Setting Up a Kids Profile

A Kids profile is the easiest way to make Disney+ child-safe. It restricts the entire browsing and viewing experience to G and TV-Y rated content, and it can’t be switched to a standard profile without the account holder’s Disney+ password.

Open Your Profile Menu

Open Disney+ and tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Edit Profiles

Select Edit Profiles from the dropdown menu to manage your account’s profiles.

Add a New Profile

Tap Add Profile to begin creating a new profile for your child.

Enable Kids Profile

Enter a name for the profile, then toggle on “Kids Profile” to enable Kids Mode.

Save the Profile

Select Save. The new profile will now only display G and TV-Y rated content, with a child-friendly interface.

Setting a Profile PIN

For adult profiles, adding a PIN prevents children from switching into them and accessing content that isn’t suitable for them.

Go to Account Settings

Visit disneyplus.com and log in, or open the Account section within the app.

Select Profile PIN

Find and select Profile PIN from your account settings options.

Enable the PIN

Toggle on the PIN option, then enter a 4-digit PIN of your choice.

Confirm Your PIN

Re-enter your PIN to confirm it and save your settings.

PIN Is Now Active

Your profile is now PIN-protected. Anyone trying to access it from the profile selection screen will be prompted to enter the PIN first.

Content Rating Locks

Beyond Kids profiles, you can fine-tune the maximum content rating allowed on any profile. This is useful for older children who can watch more than G-rated content but shouldn’t have access to everything. To configure it, go to Profile Settings → Content Ratings and choose the highest rating you want to allow — for example, PG, PG-13, or TV-14. Any titles rated above your chosen threshold will be hidden from that profile’s browsing experience.
Content rating locks apply to Disney+, Hulu, and Star content depending on your region and subscription tier. Make sure to check the settings for each content hub if your plan includes multiple services.
PIN protection only applies within the Disney+ app. Anyone with access to your Disney+ account credentials can visit the website and change PIN settings directly. Keep your account password private to maintain full control.

Tips for Families

Create a separate Kids profile for each child in your household. This keeps each child’s watch history, recommendations, and Continue Watching row entirely their own — and makes it easier to monitor what each child has been watching.
Set a PIN on all adult profiles so children browsing the profile selection screen can’t switch over and access content that isn’t appropriate for them.
Regularly review the Recently Watched section in each Kids profile. It’s a quick way to stay informed about what your children are watching without having to sit with them every time they use the app.
